Pixie Dust or Myth?

Collagen is a structural animal protein which provides elasticity to our skin and reinforces our connective tissue such as bones, muscle, skin, and tendons. As we age, the amount of collagen produced by our body decreases, leading to those very unwanted wrinkles as well as a decrease in muscle mass and aching joints. As I am getting closer and closer to my 30s, I have been looking for ways to take care of myself to not only keep a youthful look but also feel better. Amongst all the things I have found, collagen supplements caught my attention. After going through the research, here is what I found:

The facts I found from research papers:
Proven increase in skin hydration and elasticity. Therefore, counteracting aging.

*Keep in mind these are both small samples. The results were seen after at least 4 weeks of use and in some cases 12*

I decided to go for it and try it myself. For the past 2 months, I have been adding Vital Proteins Marine Collagen to my coffee every morning. Here is what I have noticed:
– The flavor of my coffee does not change,
– It does leave layer I like to call foam over the coffee once mixed which I don’t mind because I think of it as a latte,
– I don’t break out as much and when I do, it is just one pimple here and there and it goes away rather quickly,
– My skin does look more youthful and so I switched to using moisturizer only in the morning, no need for make-up,
– I stay full longer in the morning, I have a hard-boiled egg and my coffee, and I don’t get hungry until noon,
– My bowel movements are a lot more regular (TMI but I have to share).

I am very happy with the product overall, they have plenty of different options for you to choose from. I personally like these packages because even if you are picking up your coffee that morning, you can easily bring it with you Vital Proteins Marine Collagen

I will continue to use the collagen peptides as they have, in my opinion, increased my quality of life and shown to be effective for me. I will most definitely recommend it to everyone just like I recommend taking probiotics daily (hint hint). Give it a try and let me know how it goes in the comments below.
