A Day In The Life of a Working Wife

Totally random post!

Although I originally created this blog to share info about nutrition. Today, I thought it would be nice to share a little more about me and my day-to-day. I think getting to know each other is important. Plus, I have a section for lifestyle so here it goes.

Like most of you, I have a full-time job. To get ready and get to work on time, I had to wake up 2 hours before work. I was going to the gym for a while so I would actually wake up 3 hours before work. When the COVID pandemic started back in March, I started working from home. Working from home meant being able to sleep in. I am a much happier person now!

Mornings

My new working from home schedule means I get to wake up at 6:45 am. I go downstairs and pour some fresh water in the dogs’ bowl (they share one large bowl it’s the cutest thing!). I then turn on my espresso maker, start grounding coffee, and serve their food. Depending on what I am having for breakfast, this is usually when I prep it and put it in the oven. At this point, I go with the dogs to the backyard for a potty break.

After they go potty, we come back inside, I give them their vitamins and place their food bowls so they can eat. Tomato usually eats right away, he can eat forever, he is always hungry! Bacon gives me a little bit of a hard time sometimes, he does not eat much but as of lately, he has been pretty good.

While the dogs have their breakfast, I finish making my coffee and breakfast – usually, a small bread or muffin which I take with me to the office with my coffee and water bottle. I check some emails, join meetings, and get some work done until noon. I usually have a snack at around 10 am…ish. My snack is usually cheese and some nuts, either almonds or cashews. I also refill my water bottle.

I try to take a lunch break on most days, even though I am unable to at times. During my lunch break, I prep something quick like a ham and cheese quesadilla. If I have leftovers, I use whatever I have for the quesadilla, sometimes we get lucky and we can have chicken or steak quesadillas lol. This is when I take my multi-vitamin and the hubby and I go for a short walk. These few minutes of fresh air make a huge difference to beat the after-lunch need for a nap and relieve some stress from the workday. After our walk, back to the office, it is. I usually have meetings and emails to catch up with after lunch.

After my workday is over

I run downstairs to let the dogs out for a potty break. By this time, I am usually pretty hungry and I either have a fruit or yogurt. Depending on the severity of my workday, I get some cleaning or laundry done. Sometimes I am extremely exhausted and can’t find the energy to do either so I just sit on the couch and read for a while and catch up with social media.

I usually call my mom and catch up with family, if time allows. I check my personal emails and just try to relax a bit. By 6 pm it’s time to feel the dogs and start prepping (or ordering) dinner. I try to make dinner most days but when I have a very long and stressful workday, I just order in. We sometimes go for a walk after dinner.

I have several goals to start being more consistent with a few things this month. All of these are important so I will have to slowly introduce these into my day. I think the most important is working out. Even 20 minutes I am sure will make a huge difference. Another goal is to get back into a cleaning schedule. Being home for a while has thrown my entire schedule off. At first, I was being really good with sticking to my schedule but I think after so many months of just being home it has been difficult to sustain my energy levels and enthusiasm.

We also have a couple of house projects we’d like to accomplish. It is now 12 days until Christmas but I have high hopes and I think we can accomplish at least a couple of these before then.
